The meeting attracted a wonderful entry ranging in age from a 4.7 litre Hudson Super Six built in 1917 to a Triumph TR6 which left the factory 56 years later in 1973.
Size varied greatly too, the smallest arguably being the diminutive three-wheeler Morgans which were dwarfed by the likes of the colossal Railton LS Tourer, 4.5 litre Bentley and many of the other entries.
The morning was filled with practice/qualifying sessions during which the drivers battled not only with each other but also with a mixture of light and heavy rain which resulted in very challenging track conditions.

During the lunch break the cars for the first race, the Redgate Mug Race for standard and modified pre-war sports cars, assembled on the grid for the spectator grid walk.
The afternoon was packed with ten races, culminating with the Longstone Tyres Longcar Race for standard pre-1931 cars, many of which had 4-seater bodies.
Drivers prepare for the Redgate Mug Race with Alfa Romeo Monza of Christopher Mann on pole.
Despite the age and value of the cars they were driven with gusto throughout the day and put on a great show for the few spectators who braved the weather. For me, the surprise was the pace of two of the three-wheelers.
One of the fast three-wheelers was driven by Sanford Andrews who claimed the top step of the podium in both the Donington Mug Trophy Race for VSCC Specials and John Holland Trophy Allcomers Scratch Race in his Morgan Aero 2Str.
He also set the fastest time of the day, a 1:44.88 lap which averaged 67.93 mph around the 1.98 mile Donington Park National Circuit.
