The British Superbikes Calendar 2025

The British Superbikes Calendar for 2025 has been released. The three test events are back for 2025 with the opening event at the Spanish Circuito de Navarra which is owned by MSV. First used in the 2024 championship it had mixed reviews from the British fans who sighted the expense of traveling to Spain to watch the opening round as a factor in not going in large numbers.

Navarra has been dropped from the main championship with the addition of the TT Circuit Assen as the “European” round. The question has been asked why go to Europe when this is a domestic series? It’s a good question which can be answered with “why not”. Assen is about the same distance as Knockhill for a lot of fans living in the south of the UK and has a great history of motor sport and is a track every fan should visit once in their lives.

For me the addition of Assen is good news and I expect the British fans to cross the channel in droves to watch BSB at this great circuit. The last time BSB visited the "The Cathedral of Speed” was in 2019, the round was well attended as it’s relatively easy for British motorcycle fans to cross the channel by tunnel or ferry.

BSB Rumours 2025

It’s the start of the BSB silly season when rumours start to go round the paddock regarding the teams and riders and who is staying and who is going to a different team. We will bring you these totally unsubstantiated snippets of information as we get them and post them up here.

As with all rumours there is usually an element of truth in there somewhere and we will try and weed out the facts from fiction.

FHO Racing - 10 February 2025

The much-rumoured shake-up at FHO Racing has been confirmed. Faye Ho, the owner of FHO, will run 2024 IDM Superbike champion Ilya Mikhalchik in a one-rider team in the BSB Championship. International German Motorcycle Championship Ilya Mikhalchik and the FHO team will still be supported by BMW.

However, the German car and motorcycle manufacturer is looking to replicate the success it has achieved in the World Superbike Championship by increasing its profile in BSB.

8TEN Racing - Peter Hickman - Davie Todd

A new team, 8TEN Racing, who will be supported by BMW Motorrad Motorsport. They will run the new BMW M 1000 RR in the 2025 BSB Championship. Continuing their relationship BMW has with ex-FHO BMW riders Peter Hickman and Davie Todd, who have transferred to the new 8TEN Racing team.

8TEN Racing was registered at company’s house on the 11 February 2025. Hickman and Todd are company directors with a 50% stake in the company. No other actors are mentioned on the company documents.

A further announcement regarding 8TEN Racing is due on 28 February.

John McPhee is confirmed as a MasterMac Honda British Super Bike rider alongside Charlie Nesbitt.

McPhee spent 10 years in Moto3 with 4 Grand Prix victories to his name. Moving to WorldSSP for the last two years riding a Triumph Street Triple RS 765 for the WRP-RT Motorsport by SKM-Triumph. This will be McPhee's first taste of British Super Bikes and alongside Nesbitt this is a team to watch.

Billy McConnell has re-signed with the C&L Fairburn Properties/Look Forward Racing Honda team for the 2025 British Super Bikes season. Back on the Honda Fireblade McConnell will be looking to replicate his podium at Thruxton and his multiple top ten finishes.

Storm Stacey

The stunning looking Bathams AJN Racing BMW M 1000 RR will be on the BSB grid for 2025. Team owner Michael Rutter with his crew chief Ray Stringer will be watching the progress of top hat wearing Storm Stacey who has signed for the team.

Storm said “For me personally, the challenge and opportunity of riding for a different team, and on a different bike, is one that I’m really excited about, and I can’t wait to get stuck in to.

I’ve never been short of motivation, but this fresh challenge on the back of a great 2024 season that I got my first win in has got me fired up good and proper. I’ll be doing everything I can between now and the start of testing to make sure I’m in the best shape possible. Bring it on!”

Adam Brown is to join Josh Davis Motorsport (JDM) for the 2025 Quattro Group British Supersport Championship on the Yamaha R6.

Adam had a tough rookie season in the 2024 Junior Supersport and Supersport Cup classes but showed his class by taking a podium finish in the Cup class during this season.

Brown said: “I’m super excited to start this new chapter of my career with Josh Davis Motorsport. A big thanks to Josh and Maureen for this opportunity and after a very tough rookie year in the Supersport Cup, I cannot wait to see what we can achieve in 2025.

“When I got the call from Josh to simply say welcome to the team, I couldn’t honestly believe it. The package is proven all I have to do is get my head down and work as hard as possible, with a good pre-season we are destined for a better year.”

Josh Brookes announced this week that he will be joining DAO Racing alongside Lee Jackson for the 2025 BSB season riding the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade.

Christian Iddon will replace Jason O'Halloran and join #30 Max Cook riding for Kawasaki FS-3 Racing and Kawasaki UK on the AJN Steelstock Ninja ZX-10RR in 2025. Max performed well last year on the big green machine and with Christian alongside this is going to be a strong team.

Lewis Rollo will be back riding the Aprilia RSV-4, in full BSB trim for the IN Competition Sencat team. Last year Rollo was in the BSB pathway class where Superstock riders who move to the Superbike class can progress using their National Superstock spec bikes but fitted with the British Superbike ECU.

This allows a smooth cost effective transition from Superstock to Superbike, the class runs alongside the full power BSB machines displaying yellow number boards to distinguish them from the other riders.

Lee Jackson will leaving MasterMac Honda and joining DAO Racing for the 2025 season. DAO will be running the new Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, Jackson was very competitive on last years Honda Fireblade with MasterMac so it should be an easy transition of the fastest plumber in Lincolnshire.

Team Owner Steve Moore and Leon Haslem will be working together to put a competitive package on track for the 2025 season and challenge for the British SuperBike title.

Glenn Irwin. The PBM Racing Team have confirmed today the 5 November 2024 they are signing Glenn Irwin on a new two-year contract to stay with the team and race in BSB.

Glenn announced earlier in the week that his road racing days are over. This was no surprise, after being one of the fastest newcomers at the IoM TT in 2022 at 129.849 mph he publicly stated that he enjoyed the TT but his priority has to be his family and BSB is less of a risk.

Bradley Ray returning to British Super bikes to join Kyle Ryde in the OMG Grilla Yamaha team. This one has legs as Brad is not doing well at all in World Super Bikes with the Yamaha Motoxracing Racing Team. With Ryan Vickers moving to WSBK there is a vacant ride at the OMG Grilla Yamaha team. However, OMG Grilla have already signed Joe Talbot who is in second place in this year Super stock Championship. This Rumour is confirmed.

Danny Buchan has confirmed his retirement from British Super Bike racing saying his body has just had enough. To ride a super bike you have to be at peak physical condition and Danny said on his social media “My body is smashed and it needs looking after”.

So after a career that has spanned 25 years including 231 BSB races with six wins it is time to move on. I looked through our 2024 season reports and Im sad to say we didn’t feature Danny a lot, which says a lot. We wish Danny all the best in what ever he does next.

Jason O'Halloran has also confirmed his retirement from British Super Bike racing, stating he will embark on a new challenge next season. It has been confirmed Jason O’Halloran has joined the Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team as Niccolò Canepa’s replacement for the 2025 FIM Endurance World Championship.

So with an impressive 278 race starts in BSB, 32 pole positions, 75 podium finishes and 28 race wins 2024 was the last chance to see the O Show in BSB. Mr O'Halloran has always been a gentleman and generous with his time when Ive met him, and Im sure we will see him at a few BSB rounds in 2025.
