Report and images by Leon Wall
19 December 2020
Recently I was invited down to the spiritual home of Rallycross Lydden Hill to capture images and videos of Tony Lynch competing in the Retro Rallycross Championship.
I was introduced to Wigan based Tony and the team last year at Croft where I saw him racing his Mk1 Toyota MR2.
This rear engine, rear wheel drive Japanese classic was bought in 2018 and is undergoing a rolling development. This has resulted in Tony now having a really quick competitive car, producing 205BHP from its 1.6L normally aspirated engine.
This season Tony is competing with the Mk1 Toyota MR2 in the British Retro Rallycross. I caught up with Tony to talk about the car, the weekends racing and the season ahead.
