Davey Todd threw the gauntlet down with two excellent qualifying times of 131.821 mph in the Superbike and 130.439mph in the Superstock class.
Racing the Milwaukee BMW Motorrad M1000RR in the RST Superbike, RL360 Superstock, and Milwaukee Senior Races for 2024, Todd is looking good to beat his personal best lap of 132.982mph, which made him the 6th fastest rider ever to lap the TT Mountain Course.
Davey Todd will take to the two Monster Energy Supersport Races onboard a Ducati Panigale V2, riding the exotic Italian machine under the banner of Powertoolmate at the 2024 Isle of Man TT Races. The last win for Ducati at the TT was with Tony Rutter back in 1985, so it will be interesting to see what Todd can do. He was third fastest in Supersport, qualifying 2 behind Jamie Coward and Michael Dunlop.
PistonClick are following Michael Russell on the Pipewerx Exhausts BMW M1000 RR and Matt Stevenson on the Dafabet Racing Kawasaki ZX-10RR as we did last year. Michael "Jack" Russell is attempting to complete all of the 2024 TT races including the side cars!
This will be a massive achievement if he can do it as it is both a physically and mentally very tough challenge. Thankfully he has experience on his side. Last year he did the Supersport, Sidecar and Superstock in one day and very nearly completed 10 finishes from 10 starts but for a few mechanical failures, one the very last race!
Jack will be back with Vicky Cooke for the sidecars and will be on the following machines as he takes on his epic ten race challenge.
Superbike No.34 Pipewerx Kawasaki
Superstock No.34 Pipewerx BMW
Supersport No.52 Fraser Evans Tyre Recycling Kawasaki
Supertwin No.34 Fraser Evans Tyre Recycling Aprilia
Sidecar No.22 FROG vehicle development LCR Suzuki
In our Unsung Heroes report last year we had plans to follow Matt “The Mullet” Stevenson’s journey in the 2023 TT as we did in 2022 but unfortunately, Matt had quite a bad accident early on so was unable to take part.
In this year’s Superstock #38 Matt was 21st in qualifying 3 at 123.877mph, which is getting close to this personal best. We look forward to continuing to report Matt’s TT journey this year. Look out for his pink Arai helmet with The Mullet on the back and give him a cheer!
