Saturday Greenwood Cup Hillclimb
Saturday under some nice autumnal sunshine, though with a chilly Northly wind, joining the Harewood regulars was a number of competitors from the MG Car Club, Club Alpine Renault, 500 Owners Club, Westfield Sports Car Club and XBC Cross Border Speed Championship to complete a packed entry list.
About half way through the second Practice Run a medical emergency occurred in the Paddock Area, which lasted about an hour. Which only aloud the two Practice runs to be completed before the lunch break.
The afternoon timed runs didn’t start until after two o’clock, so only two-timed runs were completed due to several other small delays and red flags.
Sunday Mike Wilson Hillclimb
Under very overcast and much cooler conditions than yesterday, the event got underway at 9:00am with two practice runs followed by a timed run before the lunch break.
Then before the afternoon restart a two minutes silence, was held in the paddock area for her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II. A further two timed runs were completed in the afternoon, it is these timed runs which are used for the Championship scores.
A number of competitors managed to set personal best times for the hill throughout the day.
Adam Riley was confirmed as the 2022 Harewood Hillclimb Champion, even though he was not competing this weekend.
Tracey Wise driving her Lotus Elise, car #153 takes second place from Rob Spedding driving his Formula Ford Vector TF93K, car #202. The points difference between the two drivers was just 0.14.
In the Fastest Time of the Day Championship (FTD) David Tatham driving his OMS Hornet, car #196, is the FTD Award Series winner with 58 points. With Robin Wood driving the Force PT that he shares with his brother, car#194 on 47 points.
While John Prickett driving his Radical PR6, car#183 finishes in 3rd on 41 points and Antony Wood car#894 finishes in fourth on 35.
Many thanks to BARC Yorkshire centre for the opportunity to be trackside during the 2022 season. Also not forgetting all the Marshals, Medical and Rescue teams without which the seasons events at Harewood hill could not have taken part.
The 2023 season kicks off in March with the Yorkshire members Practice Day event and the season will get underway on the 9th April with the Spring National Hillclimb meeting.

Harewood Speed Hillclimb is located between the villages of Harewood and Collingham just off the A659. BARC Harewood Hillclimb is the longest speed hillclimb in mainland UK. The all tarmac track is set against the beautiful backdrop of the Wharfedale valley in the Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire.
Harewood Speed Hillclimb Championship is run by the Yorkshire Centre of the BARC.
