I would have much preferred to be at Oulton but we are in a busy time as the track racing season comes to an end.
Due to the fallout of the pandemic racing events have been compressed into the last few weekends of hopefully good weather this year. BSB every weekend is not a bad thing!
So, as the events were coming thick and fast we only had one PistonClick photographer at Oulton Park last weekend, Keith Adcock.
He could only attend on the Friday practice day so here are the photos from the two 40 minute sessions.
Considering the compressed timeline Keith had to work with, I think you will agree these photos are pretty damn good.
As we at PistonClick are not a results service, it's all about taking photos and reporting from the spectators' view point, we won't go into depth on that subject.
By now you should have seen the races or know who fell off (I'm looking at you Mr O' Show), and who celebrated on the podium. However, here is the breakdown of the results and the Championship standing.
Race one
Race Two
Race Three
Championship Standings after Round 9
Number | Rider | Points | Gap |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Tarren MacKenzie | 1093 | 0 |
2 | Jason O’Halloran | 1091 | 2 |
3 | Tommy Bridewell | 1084 | 9 |
4 | Christian Iddon | 1060 | 33 |
5 | Peter Hickman | 1050 | 43 |
6 | Josh Brookes | 1042 | 51 |
7 | Danny Buckan | 1041 | 52 |
8 | Glenn Irwin | 1029 | 64 |
So Tarren MacKenzie is leading the Championship by two points from Jason O’Halloran with everything to ride for in the next six races - three at Donington and three at the final round at Brands Hatch.
The race to be crowned BSB champion 2021 is hotting up, with Tommy Bridewell putting in two stellar performances, and it looks like Josh Brookes has got his mojo back, with both of them throwing a spanner in the Yamaha works.
I don’t think Brookes can claim a consecutive title. It looks like it's down to MacKenzie, O’Halloran and Bridewell. If Tommy can keep the pace he showed at Oulton in the next round and stop the chain on his bike falling off he is in with a shout.
The Yamaha rides are also in a good place as long as they don’t hit the tarmac/have racing incidents, but this is BSB and literally anything can happen, which makes this probably the best race series in the UK to watch.
The penultimate meeting Round 10 is this weekend at Donington Park where the PistonClick team will make up for not covering the action fully at Oulton Park by having a team out all weekend capturing the action from the spectator's viewpoint.
